Surwahi Social Kanha Inception Story

Strangers in Surwahi

Surwahi Social is a brain child of 2 passionate strangers – Ankit Rastogi and Pradeep Vijayan in the rustic village of Surwahi situated close to the buffer forest area of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Kanha was introduced to them through their fellow native wild life expert Rajesh Barua owner of Kamp Kamouflage Kanha in 2013. During one of these jungle trips the sustainable tourism spark jolted them to make Surwahi Social alive.

Sustainable Tourism

Alternative or Sustainable Tourism is primarily meant for encouraging the dependency and the interaction between tourists and the native ecology of the place including local human civilization, the flora and the fauna of the place.

Coliving in Wilderness

A tributary of Narmada, the Banjar River flows through the Buffer Zone – about 64 km from the Park’s western gate along the north-western direction – and is regarded as the life of KTR because it is an important source of water for the thriving flora and fauna of the region…

Experiences within SSK

The Baiga and the Gond tribes are indigenous to the Mandla and the Balaghat districts of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. When Kanha was declared a national park in 1955 many of these native tribals were evicted from their place of origin

The only way to make this happen is to make action!

“Do not just visit a forest rather colive in wilderness ! Experience Sustainability, Community, Wellness, Minimalism.”
